Raheem Sterling’s ‘payslip’ and salary were allegedly leaked online after he reportedly left the document in his car at a garage. The Premier League star’s earnings surfaced on social media, offering a glimpse into how much top footballers make.
High wages in football aren’t surprising, with the average Premier League player earning around £3.4 million per year. At the top end, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland reportedly earn £400,000 and £525,000 per week, respectively—Haaland’s salary alone is 14 times the UK’s median annual wage of £37,430 (as of April 2024).
Sterling’s alleged payslip, dating back to his time at Manchester City in 2019, reportedly showed a monthly net income of £1,160,634.94, including a £1.5 million bonus. The pre-tax amount was £2,208,333.33, though deductions significantly reduced it. However, neither Sterling nor Manchester City have confirmed the document’s authenticity.
Currently on loan at Arsenal from Chelsea, Sterling has struggled to make an impact, failing to score in 11 league appearances. Despite this, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta remains confident in his abilities, stating that his experience could be crucial in the title race.
