Agents of the National Police of Palma have arrested a woman in Granada accused of an alleged crime of murder after giving birth in a home in Menorca and letting the baby die. The events occurred on September 10 in a home in the Menorcan town of Maó, when the woman gave birth in the toilet of the bathroom of her home and did not perform any rescue maneuvers on the newborn. He also did not warn any of his two roommates about what happened so that they could help the baby.
The events occurred on September 10 when the police received notification of the discovery of a lifeless newborn in the toilet of a home in Maó. The agents who arrived at the home discovered that one of the women who lived in the house had given birth in the bathroom, so they notified an ambulance to take her to a medical center for assistance. At that time, the police took a statement from the young woman, who stated that she did not know she was pregnant.
The Homicide group of the National Police also questioned two people who shared the property with the young woman and who stated that they did not know that their partner was pregnant. Scientific police agents also carried out a visual inspection of the home and a series of steps to try to clarify the facts. The newborn’s body was taken to the Institute of Legal Medicine to undergo an autopsy, which revealed days later that the baby had been born alive.
The reports included in the National Police investigation confirmed that, once the birth occurred, the mother did not take any action to safeguard the life of her newborn daughter. The young woman, according to the police, did not help the baby and did not ask her roommates for help to intervene. With the results of the investigation, a group of agents from the Homicide group of the Balearic National Police traveled to Granada, where the woman was. There she has been detained and accused of being the perpetrator of an alleged crime of murder.
